Terms of Service
Effective date: 16 June 2026
Last updated: 16 June 2026
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the WedCut mobile application and any related services (collectively, "WedCut" or "the app"). WedCut is operated by Paul Lemon, an individual sole trader operating in the United Kingdom under the trading name "WedCut" ("we," "us," "our").
By creating an account or using WedCut, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you may not use WedCut.
1. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old to use WedCut. We do not knowingly accept accounts from users under 18 and we block sign-ups that report ages under 18 during onboarding.
- You must have the legal capacity to enter into a binding contract in your jurisdiction.
- If you have a current or past diagnosis of an eating disorder, we recommend speaking to a qualified clinician before using WedCut or any calorie-tracking tool. WedCut is not a clinical tool and is not a substitute for medical care.
2. Your account
- You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and for everything that happens under your account.
- Use a real email address you have access to. Email confirmation is required.
- One person, one account. Do not share login credentials.
- You may delete your account at any time from inside the app (Settings → Danger zone → Delete account). Deletion is immediate and irreversible.
3. Acceptable use and community guidelines
WedCut is built around small private groups (typically a wedding party) and includes group chat. To keep these spaces safe and useful, you agree NOT to use WedCut to:
- Harass, threaten, bully, or shame another member, in any feature including chat, reactions, reports, or your display name
- Coerce or pressure another member about their weight, body, eating habits, or appearance
- Impersonate anyone else or misrepresent your affiliation with another person
- Post content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, discriminatory, or that promotes self-harm or disordered eating
- Solicit, advertise, or promote products, services, weight-loss schemes, or supplements to other members
- Share another member's information outside the group without their consent
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or attempt to access parts of WedCut you are not authorised to use
- Use automated tools, bots, or scripts to interact with the service
- Interfere with the proper operation of WedCut or with other users' experience of it
We may remove content, suspend, or terminate accounts that violate these guidelines, at our discretion. We may report unlawful conduct to authorities where required.
Reporting and blocking
You can report another member who is violating these guidelines via the Group tab's report function. Reports are anonymous to the reported member. You can also leave any group at any time. We do not currently moderate chat content proactively; we rely on member reporting and act on it promptly.
4. Health and safety disclaimer
WedCut is not a medical device, not a diet plan, and does not provide medical, nutritional, dietetic, or psychological advice. Calorie targets, plateau coaching, milestone tracking, and any other in-app content are general lifestyle features and are not a substitute for professional advice.
- You should consult a qualified healthcare professional before starting any weight-loss, calorie-restriction, or fitness programme.
- You acknowledge that weight loss carries individual risks and you take personal responsibility for how you use WedCut.
- If you experience signs of an eating disorder or distress about food, eating, weight, or your body, please contact a recognised support service (a list is provided in the app's Safety section and in our Privacy Policy).
- We block sign-ups under 18 and surface safety helplines for entries that indicate rapid weight loss, but we do not screen for clinical conditions and cannot detect every risk.
5. Subscriptions and payments
WedCut is offered on a freemium-plus-subscription model:
- 30-day free trial when you create a group. The trial begins on the day of account creation and runs for 30 calendar days. One trial per email lifetime; we use a one-way hash of your email to prevent trial reuse.
- After the trial, continued use requires an active subscription or a sponsored group payment.
Subscription products
- WedCut Monthly Personal — auto-renewing monthly subscription giving the subscriber access. Access continues while subscribed, up to 30 days after the group's wedding date, after which the app's countdown purpose has ended; cancel via your Apple ID settings to stop further charges. Price shown at point of purchase.
- WedCut Group Pass — a one-time purchase that covers all current members of a single group through 90 days after that group's wedding date. The purchaser does not receive a refund if the group disbands.
Data retention after your event
We keep your data only as long as needed to provide the service. After your group's post-wedding window ends, the group becomes read-only/archived. If your account is inactive for 24 months we may delete it after reasonable email notice. You can export or delete your data at any time in the app, and deleting your account permanently removes your personal data (subject to limited records we must retain by law). We do not keep your data indefinitely.
Auto-renewal, cancellation, and refunds
- Subscriptions auto-renew at the end of each billing period unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You manage and cancel your subscription in your device's Apple ID / Google account settings, not within WedCut. We do not have the technical ability to cancel a subscription on your behalf.
- Payments are processed by Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not receive or store your payment card details.
- Refunds are handled directly by Apple or Google according to their policies. We can advocate on your behalf but cannot issue refunds ourselves.
Price changes
We may change subscription prices. You will be notified before any price change takes effect, with the option to cancel before the new price is charged.
6. Your content
- You retain ownership of everything you create in WedCut — your weights, foods, recipes, chat messages, photos (if any in future), and so on (collectively, "Your Content").
- You grant us a limited licence to host, store, transmit, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of operating WedCut on your behalf. This licence ends when you delete the content or your account.
- You are responsible for the legality and accuracy of Your Content. You represent that you have all rights necessary to post it.
7. Our content
- WedCut's name, logo, design, source code, copy, and any data we publish (e.g. food database snippets, milestone definitions) are owned by us or our licensors and are protected by intellectual property laws.
- You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works of WedCut without our prior written consent, except as expressly permitted by these Terms or applicable law.
8. Third-party services and content
WedCut integrates third-party services to operate, including:
- Supabase — database, authentication, edge functions, realtime
- Apple App Store and Google Play — purchases, distribution
- RevenueCat — subscription management
- Expo — build, push notifications
- Open Food Facts, USDA FoodData Central, FatSecret Platform — food and nutrition data
- Resend — transactional email
These services have their own terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content, availability, or practices, but we have selected each based on their data-protection commitments.
Food and nutrition data displayed in WedCut is sourced from the third-party databases above. We do not guarantee its accuracy and you should verify nutritional information independently for any medical or clinical purpose.
9. Service availability and changes
- WedCut is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Things break, providers go down, dragons happen.
- We may add, change, suspend, or remove features at any time. Material changes will be communicated in-app where reasonable.
- We may stop providing WedCut entirely with reasonable notice (at least 30 days where possible), and you will be able to export your data via the in-app CSV export before then.
10. Termination
- You may terminate by deleting your account (Settings → Danger zone → Delete account).
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms or the Acceptable Use section, with notice where reasonable.
- We may terminate any account that has been inactive for more than 24 months, with reasonable warning by email.
- Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitations of liability, governing law) will survive.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law:
- WedCut and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of (or inability to use) the service.
- Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or WedCut shall not exceed the greater of (a) the total amount you have paid us in the 12 months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) £50.
- Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law in your jurisdiction.
12. Indemnity
You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, demand, loss, or damage (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of WedCut, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
13. Apple App Store additional terms (if you obtained WedCut from the Apple App Store)
These additional terms apply if you downloaded WedCut from the Apple App Store. You acknowledge that:
- These Terms are between you and us only, and not with Apple. Apple is not responsible for WedCut or its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for WedCut.
- In the event WedCut fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) for WedCut. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation in respect of WedCut.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims relating to WedCut or your use of it, including product liability, failure to conform to legal requirements, and consumer protection claims.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement, and discharge of any third-party intellectual property claim that WedCut infringes that third party's rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country, and you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms with respect to WedCut on Apple devices, and upon your acceptance Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.
14. Governing law and disputes
- These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
- Disputes will be resolved in the courts of England and Wales, except that consumer protection rules of your country of residence may also apply where required by local law.
- Nothing in this section limits any rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived under your local law.
15. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated in-app and the "Last updated" date above will change. Your continued use of WedCut after a change indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
